SWING DANCING!

Swing dancing is a bunch of vintage dances that started around the 20's, 30's, and 40's when the popular music was swinging jazz.

The most popular swing style is the Lindy Hop. This is a partnered dance that originated in New York. It's a fun crazy dance style, with lots of flair and kicks.

Swing dancers in the modern era love the vintage culture as well, and you'll find them dressing up vintage, paying homage to the people and places of the time, and listening to the old jazz songs.

But you won't just hear recordings from old time jazz bands like Count Basie and Duke Ellington, there are plenty of modern bands playing swing music for dancers.

Swingtopia is a dance school in Perth that dedicates itself to swing dancing. As well as teaching classes, we also run dance parties where you can ask anybody to dance. We'll have live music just as often as we'll have DJ'ed music!

Azza and Lauren are your friendly, passionate and experienced teachers. With many years of experience dancing and teaching, they are also both professional teachers in their personal lives.
